In our research, we focus on the strategic management of digital innovation and the organizational design in the course of the digital transformation. In the research field Digital Innovation, we evaluate the business impact of emerging information technologies (IT) and information systems (IS). In the research field Digital Transformation, we analyze the changing demands of companies in the digital age to derive fields of action and strategies for decision-makers in the IT context. In doing so, we consider both research fields integrated to be able to investigate the interfaces and dependencies between technologies and the organizational context in a profound way.
We investigate these research fields from two directions with different research paradigms. On the one hand, we apply behavioral science for analyzing adoption, usage, and success of information systems and management practices. On the other hand, we use the results of this research to develop and evaluate artifacts such as process and organization models as well as management approaches by means of design science.
Within our research fields and at their interface, the Professorship of Information Systems and Strategic IT Management currently has the following research topics:
- Blockchain & Distributed Ledger
- Smart Devices
- Artificial Intelligence
- Digital Workplace Technology
- IT Strategy & IT Governance
- Organizational Transformation
- Workplace of the Future
- Management of Digital Technologies
